About
The Hi, How Are You? Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being among
young people through conversation, creativity, education, and community. Inspired by the legacy of Daniel Johnston and his iconic "Hi, How Are You?" message, we empower students to check in with one another, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and build stronger, more connected communities. Through campus partnerships, research-backed programming, and our Happy Habits framework, we provide practical tools that help students thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Our mission is simple: to make it easier for every young person to ask—and answer—the question, "Hi, how are you?"
