About

JA Finance Park® inspires, guides, and teaches students how to be financially capable and ready to take on their futures through a public/private nonprofit collaboration between our region’s school systems, businesses, educators and volunteer mentors.

Volunteers guide small groups of middle-school students through a personal budgeting simulation, helping them understand how to budget and make purchases for their assigned life scenario without overspending.

Adults (18+) of all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to volunteer. No specialized knowledge of finance is needed. We strive to make volunteer experience accessible and inclusive. We believe that everyone has something to offer.

We welcome individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and personal groups. Volunteering is a great team-building experience and a chance to give back to your community by coaching and helping students.

Whether you volunteer individually or as part of a group, you will not be alone. Our friendly staff is always here to assist.

JA Finance Park has three locations throughout the DC Metro Area.

· JA Finance Park Fairfax County: 4099 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22032

· JA Finance Park Prince George’s County: 960 Nalley Rd, Landover, MD 20785

· JA Finance Park Montgomery County: 12501 Dalewood Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20906 — 3rd Floor (located inside Thomas Edison High School of Technology)

Why Volunteer at JA Finance Park®?

You’ll have the opportunity to connect with local 7th grade students from across the DMV area and share your perspective as a college student navigating early adulthood.

By volunteering, you can give back to youth in your local community while helping students build confidence around real-life financial decisions. You’ll serve as a positive role model and help students see what’s possible as they begin thinking about their own futures.

This opportunity is open to students of all majors and is a great way to earn service learning or community service hours while making a meaningful impact.

In addition, you’ll gain valuable professional skills, including:

  • Communicating ideas clearly to different age groups

  • Leading and supporting small groups

  • Problem-solving and decision-making

  • Working collaboratively in a team environment

  • Building confidence in a professional, classroom-based setting

Whether you’re volunteering for a class requirement, with a student organization, or on your own, JA Finance Park® offers a supportive and rewarding experience.
