Organizational Information: The combination visually stimulating hands-on materials and an emphasis on learning through action with authentic materials and real-life examples bolsters student interest, engagement, and construction of knowledge.
At PCM, learning through action and real-life examples is deepened by place-based project learning, where students leverage local community resources and study the Pullman region’s local heritage, cultures, landscapes, opportunities, and experiences to expand their understanding of core academic concepts, their community, and their leadership within it.
Opportunity Description: Students will assist faculty with supporting their classroom initiatives in a variety of ways.
Days/Times: Transportation will be provided. Please meet at CUB L45 at 12:30 PM to meet with your group. We plan to return to campus around 3:30 PM.
Requirements: Service hours are allocated based on amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting time and transportation to/from the service site. Students should plan to receive 3 hours of service for this project. All students are advised to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Students must email Volunteer@myPCM.org a week prior to their date of service for a WATCH Background check. This email must be brought to the service or you will not be allowed to join.
Cancellation Policy: Participants can unregister on GivePulse up to 24 hours before the scheduled project start time. Please let CCE staff know if you are unable to participate if it is within 24 hours of the project meeting time. The CCE has a strict No Show Policy. After 2 No Shows students will be unable to participate in CCE-led Projects for the rest of the semester
The CCE strives to sponsor activities that are accessible to all students. If you need accommodations to fully access the activities offered through the Center for Civic Engagement, please contact the project leader team, at cce.projects@wsu.edu at least one week prior to the activity.
