Howdy! Put on your shoes and grab your water bottle as you head out the door to join Austin Parks Foundation and Zilker 351 for a tree planting project in the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
Project Goals: Volunteers will culminate restoration efforts in an area previously inundated with invasive trees by planting native trees and understory saplings. This project is an essential component in the ongoing effort to restore one our city's most precious resource! You can read more about all our volunteer work in the Greenbelt and its impact!
Where to park: Please feel free to park in the Rock Garden lot, just above the Hillside Theater.Where we will begin: We'll meet above the Zilker Hillside Theater next to the Rock Garden picnic tables to start with introductions right at 9AM!
Accessibility: Please note that our activity for the day will involve walking on uneven terrain, slopes and wet/muddy surfaces.
What to bring: Closed toe shoes, a FULL water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and comfortable clothing. We will provide all tools and gloves - if you have your own gardening or work gloves you are welcome to bring them.
A NOTE ON SAFETY: We encourage you to “See and Be Seen!” Be mindful of your fellow volunteers and maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times. Dial 911 in case of emergency.
In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, Austin Parks Foundation and Zilker 351 staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.
