Información

Learn about the geology of Bull Creek with a hike that explores a road cut near the source of Bull Creek off Talleyran and outcroppings along the way.  Learn about the rocks in and around the creek and how City of Austin Watershed Protection Department research helps us understand how the local springs and groundwater contribute to the base flow of Bull Creek.

We will meet at the Northwest Balcones Neighborhood Park (10225 Talleyran Dr. 78750) in the parking lot. The hike is about 1.5 miles total. We will walk south along Talleyran to see the roadcuts and then return to the park to head down the Talleyran Park Trailhead. We'll follow the trail down to the creek and then return to the parking lot. If you want more, you can do the entire loop trail adding another half mile or so. The trace of the trail on Google maps is incorrect due to partial closure related to the Old Lampasas Dam construction. If you have questions, you can reach Keith Winfree, the hike leader, at 432-413-7151.
