Join the Student Sustainability Center for our garden open house!
Gather in our vegetable production garden, also called "The Green." In this garden we grow fresh, seasonal produce for the PSU Smallwood Food Pantry using regenerative methods, and provide hands on learning opportunities for students. Come explore our student green spaces and learn about the SSC's upcoming gardening opportunities and year round programming. There will be hands-on garden work, crafts and activities, and food provided. No gardening experience necessary, all tools provided. Our production garden is located at the corner of SW 12th and Montgomery, on the western edge of PSU's campus.
Garden work may include....
- Harvesting ripe produce
- Putting summer garden to bed
- Prepping for a fall/winter crops
- Mulching
- Weeding
- Seed starting
- Seed saving
Crafts and activities will include....
- Marigold garland making
- Rosemary wreath making
- Cyanotype printing (weather permitting)
- Cornhone!
Bring a friend, eat some food, and get your hands in the dirt!
