Join the Student Sustainability Center's Garden Team!

Join the Student Sustainability Center's garden team! Work alongside a community of peers to tend to on campus production and native/pollinator gardens throughout fall term. 

We will be meeting weekly on Fridays from 1:30pm-3:30pm. 

Throughout the term you will be working in two on campus gardens: "The Green" and the Smith pollinator/native gardens.

• The Green is focused on vegetable production, regenerative urban agriculture, soil health, and experimentation. All produce from The Green is donated to the Smallwood Food Pantry.
• The Smith gardens are focused on native plants, with extra attention paid towards pollinator supporting species. These gardens aim to to lessen the impacts of pollinator habitat fragmentation in urban settings, and aid in campus beautification. 

Activities will include...

• Planting and tending to a native garden
• Starting native plants from seed
• Learning about regenerative farming practices and soil health
• Harvesting produce
• General garden maintenance 
• Prepping the production garden for winter
• Planting a fall/winter garden
• And.... any topics that you would like to explore in our gardens!

On October 9th we are hosting a Garden Open House in our production garden, located at SW 12th and Montgomery. On October 16th we are hosting another open house in our native gardens. These are located adjacent to the Smith building and the park blocks, on SW Harrison St. These are open to anyone! Stop by! 

No gardening experience necessary! Join us to learn more about gardening through collaborative hands on experience!
