ReFRESH - Scholarship Requirements Refresher

upon attending the ReFresh Session, I was able to reiterate the requirements of the Promise Scholarship. A few requirements include completing 15 service hours and attending scholarship nights, which are now known as scholar nights. Instead of the usual 5-7 pm scholarship night, the team is now offering different times like 10-12, 1-3, and 5-7 to accommodate students. Scholar nights will be on Feb 21/22 and April 2/3. There is a new $500 textbook fund that will be added to student balances. March 18-29 will be the week for progress reports for those who are on academic recovery. Students on academic recovery can include those who withdrew from a class too. The W.O.W. program provides assistance to Promise scholars. To be in good standing with the W.O.W program, one must attend a retreat, at least 3 workshops, and a career/transfer fair.

I learned about what is required of me for the rest of the semester as a Special Scholarships students.

In this event, I got a refresher on the requirements to retain the Promise Scholarship for the Spring Semester. It gave us a chance to receive a reminder and ask questions afterward.

Since the semester has just started, I really enjoyed the whole refresher about the course. It was nice to listen to and helped me get back into that headspace of preparing to be a full-time student. It also reminded me of the priorities I had within this program such as the community service hours, the expectations with my GPA, and the protocol that came with wanting to drop out of a course. I also appreciated the reassurance that the scholarship would also cover my summer semester because I had been debating if I would take summer courses or not. However, since the opportunity would be taken care of financially, I will most likely take a summer class or two.

A review of what is involved with the scholarship program, the changes that have come since last semester which involved having only 1 advisor'/changes to requirements, and the personal questions from those wondering over their status in the program.
