I learned about the different degrees in figuring out which one works best for me to determine if I need to transfer to get into the work field or if I'm immediately going to the work field after graduating
It helped me a lot in my college journey
During the meeting they explained the differences in degrees they offer here at the college. At PGCC an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science are designed as transfer programs focused on humanities, social sciences, or STEM fields to help you seamlessly move on to a four-year university after completing your first two years. An Associate of Applied Science is a career-focused program emphasizing hands-on, practical training and specialized coursework, such as in nursing or technology, to prepare you to enter the workforce directly upon graduation.
I spent the hour listening to the presentation on zoom. I learnt about the differences between types of degrees, and their uses depending on the career you want. Something interesting I learnt is that Pg is a 60 credit school, I didn’t know that and assumed some people could attend longer than 2 years.
Today I learned more about my AAS degree than I knew before. I learned that it's the best degree to choose if you want to work right after graduating, but it isn't the best if you want to transfer. I believe the information shared today has shown me I'm on the right track.
In this zoom we focused on AA , AS , and AAS Degrees. In the zoom I learned what the main focus of each degrees was and job options.
