Greetings Volunteers, we’d like to thank you for volunteering for Keep Austin Beautiful's Clean Lady Bird Lake event. You'll be joining 100+ other volunteers to give some extra care to the lake and trails. You have signed up to participate in the Austin Rowing Club Shoreline cleanup. All ages are welcome at this site with adult supervision. Just as a reminder, this is a shoreline cleanup and does not involve boats.

Your Lake Leader for this site will be the Austin Rowing Club Staff and they will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

Event Details

  • Starting Location: Austin Rowing Club (74 Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701)
  • Parking: Parking is available at the MAAC. The address is 600 Red River St. and it is $2/hr. There is also parking available at the Convention Center Garage and street parking downtown
  • Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water, a snack, and sunscreen is highly recommended.
  • Youth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian must register and attend with the youth volunteer. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted.
  • Pet Policy: For safety and liability reasons, pets are not permitted at volunteer events. Service animals are welcome.

If you are not able to attend, please cancel your shift as soon as possible to allow for other volunteers to have a spot at the cleanup.

“Know Before You Go”

  • Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
  • Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
  • Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity.
  • Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
  • Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
  • For directions on where you are going for your cleanup - look at the Clean Lady Bird Lake Maps available!
