Información
Hello Volunteers! Join Keep Austin Beautiful and help us celebrate summer with a lake cleanup on Saturday, August 1st.
This month, sign up for our special "Breakfast with Bird" site to meet up for breakfast and coffee before the cleanup, provided by Bird. Plus, Bird is giving ALL volunteers discounted Bird trips to get to and from your volunteer site. Use code atxladybird on 8/1 for 50% off TWO rides with Bird!
Since 2009, Keep Austin Beautiful has organized large-scale cleanups of Lady Bird Lake every other month. We train volunteer leaders to conduct cleanups at multiple locations along the shoreline and on the water. Looking forward to everyone joining us for Clean Lady Bird Lake!
Event Details -
- Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water.
- Youth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian must register and attend with the youth volunteer. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted.
- Pet Policy: For safety and liability reasons, pets are not permitted at volunteer events. Service animals are welcome.
If you are not able to attend, please cancel your shift as soon as possible to allow for other volunteers to have a spot at the cleanup.
“Know Before You Go”
Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:
- Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
- Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
- Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity.
- Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
- Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
- For directions on where you are going for your cleanup - look at the Clean Lady Bird Lake Maps available!
