This week our group discussion was on friendship and popularity. Our group is made up of middle schoolers and this is one of the most challenging times when it comes to these two topics. We had an open conversation about qualities we look for in friendships and qualities we want to exemplify ourselves in friendship. At the end of our meeting time we handed out affirmation cards to the group and it was beautiful. I was reminded again, as I am often, about the power of encouragement!
Today our group engaged in conversation and did two activities pertaining to respect. Our students gave great examples on insight about how to be respectful in relationships, at home and in the classroom.
Positive Affirmation Building
This hour was completed for the BridegWays orientation. I thought the orientation was well prepared and set students up for success with their service learning hours. We learned more about BridgeWays and what our service learning will look like. The floor was also open for questions and feedback, which I found very helpful before we went into schools.
