I attended the final OSSA meeting of the semester. I learned a bit about WOW and DMSI and people's different experiences in each organization.

This OSSA meeting provided me with further information about current events that I was slightly aware of and financial information and examples. The hosts were hospitable and entertaining while they shared personal experiences.

For this service activity, I helped a co-worker and former classmate prepare and review everything he needed to start taking classes at PGCC. My friend had no idea where to start when it came to finding out what classes he needed to take, registering and paying for classes and contacting people to help him. I helped him figure out out everything he needs to settle as a student.

This scholarship night was a fun experience where many of my fears and worries were somewhat quelled by our first guest speaker. It also made me happy to hear from alumni who shared many of the same struggles that we could be experiencing right now.

For many hours, and over the course of many days, I have become an advisor to students who are younger than me. Some do not know where to begin regarding the college process and others needed some further information about details that are not as easily found. This includes FAFSA, private scholarships, school scholarships, and traits that they find important when choosing schools. Nonetheless, this service activity allowed me to help two high school seniors to better find what they could do to get further in life. The dates are lengthy because they are the days which we started our advising sessions and ended them. Although they still ask me questions here and there, they seemed to have gotten enough information to continue on their own for the most part.
