This week we (Evelyn and I) created the resource list for the patient. This took around 2 hours to complete, edit, and review with the team. We have completed the referral email and resource page for the patient. I am excited to complete the SHARPS Program and work within an interprofessional team.
I recommend this service-learning to all social work majors!

For these last two weeks, we worked in our interprofessional teams. Last week, the medical students met with our patient and went over some of their personal health conditions. After meeting with the patient, we all met to discuss and go over notes they took while speaking with the patient. This week Evelyn and I researched some physical therapy places, transportation, and nutritional resources near the patient's hometown. My impact for the last two weeks has been discussing and researching. I cannot wait to do our consultation with Evelyn and present or resources that best fit our patient's needs.
I love the opportunity Blazer Kitchen has given me to help my community. I enjoy being able to help my fellow classmates and faculty in securing food for themselves and their families. My biggest challenge is the 7am Birmingham traffic. I live 45 mins away from the Blazer Kitchen and the traffic going into Birmingham at that hour is awful. Another challenge I face is heartbreak, it breaks my heart to see so many of my community with food insecurities. However, I can take away from this learning experience knowing I am making a difference in changing food insecurities every time I volunteer my help. Blazer Kitchen is making a huge difference in our community and I'm so happy to be a part of that difference.
