It was great to get out in the good weather and help our trail systems by pulling invasive species and cleaning trash along the roadways.

We met at the Berry Farm off of Highway 412 and got the materials needed to clean up the highway. From there, we just went along the side of the road and picked up trash over a mile stretch!

We learned about some of the effects of invasive plants for our local ecosystem and gained knowledge on Bush Honeysuckle. We spent the majority of our time removing Bush Honeysuckle from the woods! It was a great time and it was great to meet and work with Nick and Kristina!

We got to hear from volunteer coordinators with Apple Seeds, NWA Food Bank, and a campus organization that minimizes food waste from dining halls on campus. I loved getting to hear how we can help with food insecurity, which is a big problem in Arkansas. I’m VP of Administration for Alpha Kapla Psi, so I coordinate our chapter volunteerism. We would love to get involved in some capacity in group events and partner with these awesome organizations!

I received my Pfizer vaccination in July.
