I had so much fun at the YRCC today! Before we started with the activities, some other service learners and I played with the kids on the playground. Then, Kids Crops came to plant seeds and make veggie quesadillas with the kids, and we helped out with that. The kids planted radish seeds and lettuce, and then chopped up some bell peppers and squash to put in a quesadilla. The quesadillas turned out awesome and the kids had so much fun! I was surprised how much the kids enjoyed the vegetables in the quesadilla. Then, IFC came to play some field games with the kids outside for the remainder of the time.

Today at the YRCC I was stationed in the computer lab for the first hour, and then the craft room for the second hour. For the first hour, some of the kids chose to play outside, while the others chose to go play on the computers. Then, IFC came to play soccer with the kids. They had a four-team tournament going and it looked pretty fun. The kids who did not want to play soccer completed a craft where they decorated a rainbow with pieces of paper.
I had a fantastic time putting together hygiene kits and making posters with my mentee to spread positivity around JO Kelly!
Today was a great day at the YRCC. It was so nice outside, so we played with the kids outside for about an hour. Afterward, IFC came and played soccer and gaga ball with the kids. I played volleyball with a group of girls and other volunteers.
I had a good time at the YRCC this afternoon. The kids played outside for about 30 minutes; I looked for four-leaf clovers with some of the other service learners and two of the kids. Then, we went inside for one of the children's birthday celebration. We sang happy birthday and had some cake for his golden birthday! After cake, I played four-square with some of the kids. Then, IFC came and played kickball; the kids who didn't want to play kickball did a craft.
I had a great time learning how to improve as a mentor!
Today, we played with the kids outside for about an hour and then for the remainder of the time, half the kids played kickball and the other half took some time to color a picture. I hung out with the kids who were playing kickball, and it was fun watching them be so immersed in the game.
I had so much fun educating my mentee about finances and career paths through a simulation activity!
