McKenna Sullivan

On this day at the YRCC we colored for a bit then went outside. It was so nice outside and getting to hang out with the kids and enjoy the nice weather was amazing! I played for a little with Zena and Chase for a bit then we went inside. I didn't get to read with Josh today, but I sat in the computer lab and hung out with the older kids. We then went back outside because the weather was so nice and just enjoyed the good vibes!

I started my time off at the YRCC coloring with some of the kids while they ate their snacks. It was too cold to go outside this day so we just hung out inside. I played 4 square with a group of kids and colored some more. I then read with Josh and today was a really good reading day for him. He normally gets distracted, but today he read 4 picture books without getting distracted. After reading time the kids ran a relay race and then played dodgeball. I helped decorate Halloween candy bags and played a little bit of dodgeball.

Today I colored for a bit with the kids then we went outside. I asked everyone what they were gonna be for Halloween and it was so cute hearing about all the kid's costumes. After that we went inside then I read with Joshua. He read the Lorax to me and The Little Engine that could. He did great but then wanted to finish his reading time with Autumn. Once reading time was over I played 4-sqaure with a couple of the kids and decorated superhero masks.

On this day 10/9 at the YRCC, I spent some time with the kids outside and we played tag or a little bit. When we all went inside I got to read about dinosaurs with Daelynn. After reading time we played 6 corners and the winners got candy. After this I went back outside with some of the younger kids and played with Josh for a bit until it was time to go.

On this day 10/ 2 I got to color with the kids and talked about their school day while they ate snacks. We then went outside to play for a bit. I played on the playscape with some of the younger boys. After that, we had reading time. I didn't get to help anyone read this week because there were enough pals there. Once reading time was done we played a little bit of dodgeball and then I went to the art room to make Mr. Potato Heads. I also made a bracelet with Chase.

On this day at the YRCC I got to go outside and play soccer with a young girl. I do not remember her name but she is Josh's sister. We then went inside to read and I got to read with Josh again. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a book about a disco fish. I always love getting to hangout with Josh and he's great at reading. After that we had some free time, so we played with these giant building blocks. Harley and I built a fort.

Yesterday at the YRCC I got to spend most of my time with this little boy named Josh. We hung out outside and ran around in the grass. We talked about his favorite color being yellow like a banana and he liked that my shoes were pink. After that, we went inside and I got to read with him for a little bit. He is not very verbal so I loved getting to see how amazing of a reader he was. We read a Lego Ninjago book and Pete the Cat. He thought the Pete the Cat book was super funny and liked that Pete eats bananas. Once reading time was over I played Uno with a group of kids until it was time to go home. I truly love my time at the YRCC!

This was my first day working with the YRCC and I felt immediately welcomed. All the staff was so welcoming and helpful. I loved getting to meet all the kids. We started the afternoon by eating some snacks and a little bit of free play. I went outside with a group of kids and they loved showing me all the tricks they could do on the playground. We then went inside to do homework/reading practice. I read with a boy named Joaquin and he read Pete the Cat books with me. Once we were done with that I played some dodgeball with the older kids.
