It was a wonderful volunteer opportunity, and I would be willing to do it again. During the volunteering, we helped sort different foods into bags so that they could be given to those in need in the Wilmington community. At the start, a fellow UNCW student and I went to the pantry, removed some unnecessary items, and cleaned the area at the staff's request. The work was insightful on the needs of those within Wilmington and made me feel more connected to those in need. This was a great opportunity to get insight into the struggles of people around the area.

It was a fun experience of walking down Wrightsville Beach and giving back to the community through cleaning up. I met a variety of people there who created a very fun environment while we were helping clean up the beach. It is something that is a great way to feel the UNCW culture of loving the beach and bringing value from cleaning it. This opportunity really showed some of the hidden trash I never noticed on Wrightsville Beach, and it will keep me more open to issues like this in the future. This opportunity was a great way to meet people and help the local community.
