The following event was pretty much an athletic banquet for all the sport teams at PGCC. Here, teams were congratulated and celebrated for their dedication and time put into having an athletic career at the school. The event was nice as there was music, food, and games present. Aside from this, I myself was able to win a few awards including an academic excellence award, unsung hero, and I was gifted a book with all my pictures.

Despite being am upcoming graduate, the session was very informative. I see that the coordinators are making an effort to make students feel heard such as offering multiple sessions and by giving them chances through academic recovery and more. Besides this, I'd like to thank them for congratulating the graduates and also speaking about topics that might go over our heads. It is similar to what we might except in holding other scholarships in the future.
For this event, the Southern Management Leadership Program traveled to the University of Maryland. As we are in the process of graduating from PGCC and transferring, we traveled to the University of Maryland to keep us updated on what the transferring in would be like. We had a brief information session learning about dates such as orientation and filing paperwork before going to school. We also got to meet some of the current UMD scholars and had to engage with group activities and icebreakers.
Being apart of the Southern Management Leadership Program @ PGCC we had the opportunity to volunteer and help a non profit by the name of InterfaithWorks. What they do is they help provide residents of need in the Montgomery County area to a free an accessible food pantry and clothing market. Volunteering there we were tasked to many things such as unloading a truck full of food donations and displaying them on shelves while other sorted and went through clothes.
The meeting was very refreshing. We got to speak as a community about some of the problems and pressure that social media places on us as everyday human beings. It was found that some people get lost in the idea of comparison or trying to be perfect on social media. We also learned about positive habits such as taking detoxes, or writing down how u feel to increase your mood. Also, to be aware about your digital footprint.
This event was very nice for OSSA to have for the students of PGCC. This movie watched was World War Z starring Brad Pitt. I have never watched the movie but I was very intrigued. It involved a lot of action and there was a great amount of thrillers surrounding the plot.
This session was very insightful. As my intended plan is to transfer the breakdown, Mr. Cruz did great in showing us the reality of the large costs. This definitely came to me with a realization and has pushed me to want to look for scholarships. Examples like the 2+2 scholarship and the Frederick Douglas are some that I will definitely consider. I also know to be cautious about their upcoming March 1st deadline.
I had originally joined this session and the make-up due to technical difficulties. They provided information was very nice as it "refreshed" and reminded those in the scholarship about book store purchases, scholarship requirements, academic requirements, and more. I find the implementation of the 5 mini session pretty versatile and cool. It give many student more opportunities to learn and receive new hours.
