I TA'ed for lounge today, and in addition to that Maia, Maggie and I assisted in making snack (tacos!) and helped out with some little tasks around the teen center for Marie. It was fun to get to talk to some of the kids in Spanish as well.

Last Wednesday I led a Craft class teaching about Mandalas and did self-care activities with the kids in the class for my role as a TA. It was really great to be able to lead a class and work on a group project with the students!
Today at LAYC, I made snack for the teen center (baked waffles), and the facilitated Lounge with the other volunteers. We cleaned up the kitchen a bit before heading out as well.
On Thursdays, I am a T.A. for Lounge--I assisted in making snack along with that, and cleaned the kitchen.
After arriving at LAYC, I made an example project (a collage) for the Craft class I T.A. from 4-6p.m. After that, I worked with other volunteers to heat up/prepare the snack, and then cleaned out and wiped down the fridge. After T.A.'ing the Craft class, I assisted in cleaning up the art room before heading out.
The other volunteers and I hosted "lounge," an interactive group designed to foster a fun environment and good conversations. I had some really good interactions with a few of the students there. I assisted with putting out snacks and drinks, and did some planning for future craft classes.
I had a great first day at LAYC--I made quesadillas with fellow interns/volunteers, cleaned up the community kitchen, and T.A.'ed my first class (craft). It was great interacting with the students, practicing my Spanish, leading icebreaker activities, and doing origami!
