Great meeting, we had come together as a group and discussed how this semester had gone for us as a whole. We all shared our ups and downs about how the semester had gone. We all showed how we could improve for the next fall semester and grow from this experience. We also discussed registration for our next Fall classes and who was on track to get those classes.
This was a great virtual meeting overall. I was at work when I remembered about it, and luckily, I was cut early so I could attend. There were lots of great presentations and opportunities, and I spent the entire time looking at multiple rooms to better understand what each employer could provide me. I had even learned about the Rainbow Child Development Center, which assists and provides care, education, and social services to families.
Conflict and resolution 101 DMSI meeting, it is always a great honor to reunite with this group of guys. I had even met some new faces in the group that I had not seen the week before. We discussed various topics, including conflict resolution and active listening. These spoke to me the most because I admit to being a hothead when in certain situations. Also, I learned more about active listening because sometimes when in conversation with someone I can zone out.
Prioritizing your mental and emotional health and connecting with others, this session was great because we got to be vulnerable with people. I had gotten more open about my attempted suicide, and it was calming and heartwarming that others had gone through the same thing that could help up relate. I had also discussed what had helped me get over that barrier and it was the gym; it helped me gain more confidence and gave me a new feeling.
There was no sign-in for this baseball game, but I did take a few videos of the game for evidence that I had attended. But to be completely honest I have never in my life been to a baseball game, I had even texted my sister who is a sports fanatic about the rules. I still did not understand much, but I saw many patterns throughout the game. I wish I had been born this gifted because the cannonballs the pitchers were throwing were some I had never seen. It was a great experience; the coach made sure the team was having fun but also focused on the game. Both teams played great and hopefully in the future I am able to understand more of the game.
I am terrible at remembering to record my hours. I think I have 10+ hours that I forgot to record and cannot remember the dates. But this OSSA event was great, we watched World War Z and we had games in the back table and snacks. I do admit the snacks came at the best time because I had not eaten that entire day. I attended this event with my friend Brit who is also a special scholarship member, and we had a lot of fun to watch the movie together and to catch up.
I am late in confirming my refresh session. However, I am very grateful for the scholarship team giving me another opportunity to show what I can do. There have been some hiccups but since I have returned from spring break I have felt more at ease. I am now more focused and ready to finish strong.
