Some tasks that I took part in were collecting boxes, cans, and other food donations, organizing them into bags, tying the bags up, and then transporting the bagged goods where they needed to go! I noticed that our group was really good at working together by splitting up our tasks to maximize our efficiency. We all made sure to keep each other accountable and finish our tasks, which allowed us to do the best job we could have. By working together, I met some really cool people and learned some great advice! This experience connected to my values, interests, and goals because I have really wanted to contribute to my community and help in any way I can. This opportunity allowed me to achieve that mission alongside people who share the same beliefs as I do! I learned that the community can use as much help as it can get, and that if anybody has the opportunity to help and volunteer, they should absolutely do so! This experience has really shaped my thinking about my future in volunteering, as I now understand what the process looks like, and I now realize just how much I am helping by donating my time and effort.
