First mentoring session of the semester at Hairston Middle complete!
Making blankets with Lewis Gives was collaborative while giving back at the same time, which is what I love about this organization. I can't wait to do more service like this in the future.
Books are like treasures, and feels so good to donate some of my favorite childhood books for other children to enjoy. I can't wait for more service opportunities like this in the future.
Providing a tour of NCAT College of Business for Dudley High School students was an incredibly fulfilling experience. It gave me the opportunity to share my love for North Carolina A&T and offer insight into college life from a student perspective. I hope the tour not only informed them but also motivated them to pursue their own higher education goals.
Participating in the service project with our Miss Sophomore was an incredibly rewarding experience. We assembled period kits with feminine products and panties for middle school girls at Mendenhall, ensuring that they have access to essential supplies when they need them most.
This week we collected winter clothes to donate to people in need. It warmed my heart to see students and staff coming together ensuring no one goes without essential clothing during the colder winter months.
Operation: DREAM has been an incredibly rewarding experience for both the college students involved and the elementary schoolers at Simkins Elementary. During their ACES after school program, we help the kids with homework, spend time with them through fellowship, and play outside together. It’s fun for us as college students, but more importantly, it’s empowering for the kids. What I love most about this program is that it provides representation which is something many of these students don’t often get to see. A lot of the time, Black students don’t have role models they can relate to or see themselves in, especially in higher education. Through this program, we’re setting an example for them, showing them what’s possible, and inspiring them to aim high in their own lives.
Participating in the Day of Service at Backpack Beginnings was a fulfilling and eye opening experience. Our group filled over 300 backpacks with essentials like notebooks, pencils, books, toiletries, and more for students in need. Knowing that these backpacks will help ease the burden for families and provide children with the tools they need to succeed in school made the effort worthwhile.
