It was fun but very cold. As a volunteer I was tasked with guiding the runners in the correct direction, and encouraging them as they ran by. Much respect to them because I don’t think I could run a 5k or 10k in 40 degree weather!
I got to plant a tree for the first time! I enjoyed working together with my organization (IEEE) to nourish a local park with more trees. I also got to meetthe mayor of Greensboro; Mayor Marikay
We taught the kids about Women who made significant impacts throughout history for Women’s History Month!
Today was the state championship. I was assigned to the role of Field Resetter, and I filmed parts of the competition to be posted on social media. The competition was fierce and the most physically demanding it's ever been for me, but I still had a wonderful time volunteering at the event. Though the season is over, surely I will return to volunteer at future First competitions.
It was a wonderful! Seeing these kids work together and cheer each other on was the true treasure of this experience. This kids are brilliant, their work was innovative and outstanding, you can see the hard work that went into their robots. My first time volunteering with FIRST inspired me to continue supporting their mission: To celebrate STEM and inspire students to engage in it’s wonders.
The lesson for today was about the difference between Hardware and Software and how kids need both to play their favorite games. We then organized an activity where the kids grouped in pairs of 2 for a Human-Controller game. It was a lot of fun seeing the kids engaging with the activity!
I had the opportunity to join an excursion to the International Civil Rights Museum. Was also responsible for transporting Materials from the Dudley Building to Murphy Hall
Got to know members from the e-board, met counselors at the center, connected with a few of kids. It was a blast!
