I’m so grateful I got to be a coordinator with the Volunteer Action Center and work alongside such an amazing group of volunteers. Our volunteers brought so much energy and heart to the day, and being part of the team made the experience unforgettable. Hands-on campus service always reminds me of how strong our community is when we come together for something meaningful.

Getting to hear about their engineering backgrounds gave me a whole new appreciation for why sustainability is such a huge deal in STEM and the corporate world right now. It was eye-opening to see how engineering isn’t just about designing physical structures, but also about building efficient systems, managing supply chains, and finding smart ways to divert waste before it ends up in a landfill.

Working on waste diversion outdoors was also a great reminder of how closely environmental work connects back to student well-being. Getting outside and spending time on a purposeful, productive project does so much for mental clarity. It builds a real sense of self-efficacy knowing that our hands-on efforts actually make a tangible difference. While giving us a chance to recharge in nature and connect with each other.

On a personal level, stepping into the role of an environmental steward during this event really changed how I view my own habits. I left feeling much more conscious about how I recycle day-to-day, and I feel way more equipped to help others do the same. I also learned exactly where to take local recycling here in Fayetteville, which gives me practical tools to pass along to friends and classmates.

I loved coordinating for VAC, and I really hope I can step up to help out with another project like this soon!

Can't wait for everything to come together for Make a Difference Day

So excited for M.A.D.D.

THANKS GUYS FOR THE TRAINING

I had an amazing time giving back to the University during freshmen move in. I remember when I was a first year and I was so excited to be a college student. Now that I am a senior, I see all the improvements housing has made to make move in feel less daunting. Thank you for the water it was much needed on such a hot day and the staff at founders rock. HAPPY FIRST DAY OF CLASS!
