In this experience, I assisted a person by transporting them to their Physical therapist appointment. Although the task was simple, it was a great experience being able to connect with someone from a completely different culture. On an amusing note, we both were not talkative at the beginning of my volunteering opportunity, since I knew that he did not have the best English. However, after learning his name, which has French roots, I soon found out that we both spoke French. Although it is not my mother tongue, I had the opportunity to connect with him through another language, which is also the language I am learning through my major. I love meeting people from other countries and cultures, and this experience was a great example of the types of moments I love in service.
My experiences volunteering with Bridge is always a great time. Meeting others from other countries and cultures, especially those I am unfamiliar with, is what drives me in life, as cheesy as that sounds. I was able to transport someone to their health appointment, and although I cannot speak her language, we still nonetheless shared jokes and stories in the best way we can.
This was a great experience, volunteering as a transport for a family who needed to get to an appointment. Like all of my experiences with Bridge, this impact fulfills my desires of wanting to meet others from different countries and cultures. Although I am not fluent with Spanish, I have recently been taking Spanish classes on the side, in the hopes of being fluent one day. This experience let me practice my skills, but at the same time, connect with this family and share stories (and the occasional multilingual jokes).
Reflecting on my time tabling for Be The Match, the Bone Marrow Donor Program, fills me with a sense of accomplishment and personal connection. This cause hits very close to home, not just because of our fraternity's origins, but also due to my own story. Losing my grandfather to leukemia was a turning point in my life, and it's what drives my passion for this cause. I've seen firsthand how our efforts have raised awareness and encouraged more people to become donors. It's been incredibly fulfilling to see the impact we're making, knowing that each conversation at our table could potentially save a life. This experience has not only honored my grandfather's memory but also reinforced my commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Being able to support Be The Match in their philanthropy tabling was an amazing experience. Sitting outside of the Student Union Plaza on Ped Walkway, I was able to reach out to passerbyers and register them into the Global Registry. Waving the Be The Match flag was also incredibly fun. The people from Be The Match was also incredibly really nice.
