The guest speaker is an advocate for people with disabilities. He describes his life experiences with his disability and how he was able to overcome it. He had to take first grade twice due to his disability. He began to struggle learning in elementary and middle school that he needed a learning assistant. All of a sudden, in high school, lots of kids were going to him for advice and school information. However, he felt self-doubt. He still felt like he was stupid and experienced suicidal thoughts in his junior year. He struggled to figure out what he wanted to do so he was terrified to graduate. Eventually with some support, he figured out that he wanted to help others with disabilities, so they don't have to experience constant mental breakdowns like he used to. He inspires people today to believe in themself and don't be afraid to seek support. I relate a lot to his life experiences which only made me more intrigued to hear how he worked through it.
He shared how there are people who can't accept that they have disabilities and there are people who accept it and hate themselves as a result. There are stages of accepting and not accepting their disabilities. Sometimes it is embarrassing knowing that you have a disability because you may be worried about how people think about you. The guest speaker has been through it and lived on and I plan to as well. He was inspiring to me, and it made me feel better about myself.

I played Donimos and word searches with the seniors. I also helped clean the trays after being used. I had a fun time and would recommend it.
