GivePulse Demo Training (Mini Sessions - Personal Enrichment)

The mini session was a free-floating, informative event. I learned how to join/rejoin GivePulse, navigate through GivePulse, and what pertinent information needs to be added when submitting impact hours. I learn that there are two views of GivePulse, which are a classic and a new view. Lastly, it is recommended that we enter our personal email addresses to attend the Zoom meeting, as this will help avoid issues with receiving pertinent information.

SGA Town Hall Meeting and Q&A with the President (Virtual)

I attended the first Fall 2025 SGA Town Hall and Q&A with Dr. Falecia Williams on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, virtually. The meeting was very informative and organized. I learned a lot of things, such as information about SGA, online tutoring, and that Canvas help is always available. SGA members were introduced, and they had great guest speakers. They also discuss the importance of students' well-being, emphasizing that all concerns, whether academic or not, should be reported. One interesting fact that I learned is that 67% of the students at PGCC are full-time and 33% are part-time. Overall, the SGA is doing a good job of ensuring that students are aware of the many resources available to them for success, and they should take advantage of them, never feeling uncomfortable about asking for help. Overall, this was an excellent event, and I learned a great deal.

    ReFresh Session (4th session)

The refresh session was very educational. It was well organized, and pertinent information was discussed. One of the significant changes discussed in the meeting is that the 15 required hours must be submitted within seven business days after the event. Additionally, it was discussed which PGCC events are acceptable and which are not toward the required 15 hours. I am grateful for this scholarship, and this refresher course helps me stay aware of what is needed to ensure I remain in good standing and continue to receive my scholarship.

Brush Removal for Fire Safety at Greenbelt Park

It should be more organized because we did not see a ranger when we reached there, and we emailed the organizer. After searching the park, we found where the rangers were stationed and were told that the event was cancelled, but since we were there, we could still clean up the trail, and they signed off the service hours for us. The rangers were very nice. The trail was beautiful, and the weather was great. I would go back. The trail is well-kept, but there were branches and shrubs that we cleared up.

End of Semester Meeting [Mandatory] (Tuesday)

This session was very informative. Important general questions were answered, and we were informed where to send personal questions. I learned a lot, especially since there was more emphasis on what is expected to continue receiving scholarship benefits. The 30 credits per semester that I was not aware of until a couple of weeks ago were emphasized in the meeting. This was the best session so far for me because I started late in the fall and placed a lot of emphasis on getting good grades, but this session made me realize the importance of other requirements and reading all biweekly emails.

Zion's Legacy Walk: Blood Clot Awareness

Zion Legacy Walk allowed me to walk, which I needed to do, while bringing awareness to how dangerous untreated blood clots are. I was also able to get my mother involved, and she believes that it is a worthy cause and that not enough emphasis is placed on the issue. Presently, they are planning a virtual dance, which I am encouraging others to join. Once everything is finalized, my mom and I will spread the information regarding the different events. I have walked 20 charity miles so far and will continue to walk.

Marquise @ Duval High School Baseball

I volunteered to help the baseball team train and improve their skills under the supervision of Coach Brotz. This was a great opportunity to give back while doing something that I enjoyed. I was a part of the baseball team two years ago, and it was great to see some of the players I played with and the improvements they have made since we played two years ago. I will definitely volunteer again.

Zion's Legacy Walk- National Blood Clot Alliance

It is important to bring light to diseases that are not well known so that if people are aware, they start seeing signs of the disease and know what to do. This information also educated me because I was unaware. Zion Legacy Walk is a worthy cause in which everyone can participate.
