    Special Scholarships Program

This was an advisory Zoom session for allied health students about health informatics, specifically on the computing side. It was actually my first time hearing of such health-related career pathways. While listening to the Zoom meeting, I learned about the various opportunities that come with this program, as well as the requirements needed, which were very similar to the program I wanted to get into. Additionally, I learned that retaking a prerequisite course can jeopardize our admission into a program, so we should not do so unless necessary.

This event was a Hybrid Town Hall: Q&A with the College President | Ask a Question, which I attended via Zoom. During the Zoom meeting, I learned that the school has a vending machine in the art center for health-related items, which was mind-blowing. Another thing I learned was to report and review emails that ask me to "click and open" them, as they could be phishing emails that jeopardize not only myself but the well-being of other students as well. I also learned about the student health and wellness center and the various services they offer. Overall, the event was very informative.

Academic Planning (Academic Wellness Mini Session)

This event was informative, especially for my current situation. I was initially confused about how to go about my course path, given that I am in a two-year college. I did most of the things suggested in this event, but I am still confused about many things, so as the presenter advised, I will talk to my assigned adviser to figure out my next steps. Overall, as I stated before, the event was informative.

This event was a career fair, and this time it was health-related. I talked with an organization named Future Care, and I was unfortunately the only one in the Zoom with them at the time, which was nerve-wracking. In addition to that, I was not qualified for any of their health-related opportunities, which was expected, but I got info on things I would need in order to get a job there, which was a fortunate aspect at least.

Stress, Burnout, and the Pressure to Succeed (Mental Health/Wellness Mini-Session

This event was an eye-opener in its own way. We were taught how stress can manifest itself in the life of a student; in addition to this, we were given strategies on how to manage it. One of the stressors that was highlighted was exams, especially when you get a low score. We were told to talk to other classmates or a counselor and not to dwell on it. While it was a nice suggestion, it wasn't new, but it was nice to hear.

This was a virtual interview session for students in STEM, held from 12 pm to 2 pm. Although I wasn't in any STEM-related program, the event conductor still encouraged us to enter breakout rooms. One of the rooms I entered was for Best Buy, and I joined another one late. Aside from those two, I went to the breakout room for individuals who weren't at the event for an interview. Although I was not an active participant in the meeting, it was still fine knowing that I could interact with a different field, such as STEM.

The name of this event was "Virtual Interviewing Workshop"; the main premise of this event was to prepare students for the upcoming virtual job fair. We were taught how to connect with employers at the Virtual Career Fair. Join Career Development and Internships to learn how to prepare for virtual interviews, answer common interview questions, communicate professionally, and make a strong first impression when engaging with recruiters online. The presenter also emphasized the importance of keeping our environment clean and wearing a full professional outfit, not just half of it. Overall, the event was insightful.

This event was called "Get In The Know - An Overview of Canvas" and was held online from 3 to 4. This Zoom meeting provided very informative details on how Canvas works and how students can use it to their advantage. One of the most important things I learned was the course format, where the course name dictates the course's location and level. Overall, the meeting was very informative.
