    Special Scholarships Program

The name of this event was a "virtual speed friending mixer," where, as the name stated, students got to make friends. This was done through the use of breakout rooms, with questions that allowed students to get to know one another. They also used Kahoot, where the top 3 received a prize. Overall, the event was nice, given that I got to interact with other students.

The name of this event was a Goal and Vision Board Workshop. During this event, we were given a presentation by SGA on what SMART Goals are and their importance. Afterwards, we created a vision board, on which we stuck pictures that resonated with who we were. During this time, I even got to interact with one of the students, which was great, making the two hours pass by quickly. We also got some biscuits.

This event, named a cover workshop, was where students learned the process of cover letter writing, as well as its dos and don'ts. During the workshop, I learned that a cover letter should not include personal information, only the experiences you gained through your previous endeavors that apply to the job. Overall, the event was very helpful and informative, especially since I have a class that requires me to write a cover letter.

The name of this event was "Dual-Enrolled Students Success Panel." During this event, three categories of PGCC services were covered. These included the tutoring services, the financial empowerment center, and Owl Career. For tutoring, I learned the location of the tutor for both math and English education. I also learned that this aids in many subjects. Not only that, PGCC has the Brainfuse program that allows students 180 minutes of tutoring each semester. For the financial empowerment center, I learned about the importance of knowing how money works, and that being financially inclined improves credit, increases savings, reduces debt, and improves knowledge of loans. I also learned about the various opportunities there are to earn money at PGCC. During the Owl Career session, we got a demo on how the website worked and the opportunities that are available on the webpage. These included a resume builder, mock interviewing, and resume reviewing.
Although this event was mainly for dual enrollment students, I learned a lot, especially about the tutoring center and the financial employment center. That said, the event was not only fun, it was also informative.

    Spring 2026 Transfer Fair

The event was for the Granger Fair, where students could see and ask for information on various schools they could transfer to. This also included the benefits that come with transferring to these schools. The one school that caught my eye was Trinity Washington University. They offer a merit scholarship that covers tuition and other things. Not to mention, it's an all-female school, at least during the day. I have to say, I was interested in the school only because of the scholarship offered. There were other schools as well, like Maryland University and some others. Overall, I gained info on the colleges that piqued my interest.

This event, called "Learn to Build a Resume with a Career Coach," taught us about the purpose of a resume, as well as its dos and don'ts. I learned how to phrase my skills and achievements, to be concise, to tailor my writing to the job requirements, to use an appropriate template, not to include my home address, to use a professional work email, and to include an objective in my resume, among other things.

Overall, the event, though online, was informative and helpful.

The name of this event was "Virtual Game Show." Students/contestants were randomly chosen to participate in a game to win an item in a bag or forfeit for money. The conductor of this game was very charismatic, given that the event was online. For one, I thought this event was just for fun, but individuals who were chosen did in fact win either an item or money. Not only that, through the event, I learned from the instructor that we can either choose to stick with what we ended up with or choose a better route, but above all else, we should be hopeful and exhibit an attitude of hope.

This event was a strive kick off event. This event was about Games and our gameplan for the current semester. During the meeting, I've learned about the directors of the strive program, and the side kicks(trio ambassador) and their majors. They did an ice breaker with kahoots. During the cahoots, they asked questions about games, which I know nothing of, but was glad to learn about. One of surprising factors of the cahoots was the it was not created by AI but by onr of the trio ambassador. One of the game plans was to have a strategies for our classes and goal. This allows use to stay on track. During the meeting, we did some goal setting, spoke to others on the meeting about our goal. This was done through breakout rooms. The people I met their were nice. Theirs more, but over all, the meeting was nice and quite insightful, in terms of goals of course.

This meeting was on Zoom. Its objective was to introduce students to Owl Careers as well as its benefits. Through this meeting, I learned many things regarding the webpage. I had heard about it before, but I didn't know it had features similar to LinkedIn. The two most surprising features were that the webpage's updates on jobs are regulated by the government and that it aids in making a resume. In addition to that, there is a feature on the webpage that allows students to do mock interviews in preparation for actual interviews. I learned a lot more that I would love to share, but to conclude, the meeting was not only eye-opening but also informative.
